How to apply:
Applying for the Run for a Reason 5K Scholarship is simple. Applicants must submit:
1) The Run for a Reason Scholarship Application found on this webpage.
2) A recommendation letter for the scholarship from a teacher, coach, or athletic director.
3) A typed, double-spaced essay (of about 300 to 500 words), explaining to us:
- Why he/she feels they need the money to jumpstart their college career.
- How he/she has been active within the school system or community.
- How he/she plans on staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
- What his/her plans are for their future career.
4) Proof of GPA via a high school transcript
Applicants should utilize the following checklist to ensure all requirements for the application are met.:
¤ I have at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). I will submit proof of this via a high school
transcript.
¤ I am a graduating High School Senior from a Forsyth County High School.
¤ I have legibly completed and will submit together with all other documentation my Run for a
Reason Scholarship Application .
¤ I have submitted together will all other documentation my Recommendation Letter from a
teacher, coach, or athletic director.
¤ I have submitted together with all other documentation my typed, double-spaced essay
explaining the inquiries found above. (300 to 500 words would be an appropriate length)
¤ I understand that if all items are not submitted together and/or are not legible, my
application will be considered void and returned to me.
¤ I understand that the more participation in the Run for a Reason 5K, the more money that
will be raised for the Scholarship funds.
¤ I understand that I am encouraged to participate in the Run for a Reason 5K to support the
financial aid I may receive.
